Definitions

In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,—

1. (i) "agricultural cattle" means an animal specified in the Schedule;
2. (ii) "Competent Authority" means a person appointed by the State Government by notification to perform in any local area specified therein the functions of a competent authority under this Act; [(ii-a) "export" means to take out from the State of Madhya Pradesh to any place outside the State;]
3. (iii) "slaughter" means killing by any method whatsoever and includes maiming or inflicting of physical injury which in the ordinary course will cause death;
4. (iv) "Veterinary Officer" means a person appointed as such or invested with the powers of a Veterinary Officer under section 3.
