Bare Act
The Lakshadweep Excise Regulation, 2026
The Lakshadweep Excise Regulation, 2026, establishes a comprehensive legal framework for the administration of excise revenue and the control of liquor within the Union territory of Lakshadweep. It regulates the entire lifecycle of alcoholic beverages, including their manufacture, import, export, transport, and sale. The Act empowers the Administrator and appointed excise officers to issue licenses, collect duties, and enforce compliance. It defines various offences, such as illicit distillation and illegal sale, and prescribes penalties, including imprisonment and fines. By replacing the 1979 Prohibition Regulation, this law aims to modernize excise administration, ensure public safety, and secure government revenue through structured oversight.
