The Thiruppuvaram Payment (Abolition) m Act 1969

This Act abolishes a specific revenue payment known as Thiruppuvaram in the former Travancore region of Kerala. It ends the obligation for landholders and the government to pay this amount to Thiruppuholders, effectively extinguishing their right to receive it. To make up for this loss, the law provides compensation, particularly for public religious or charitable institutions that relied on these payments. The measure ensures that these institutions continue to receive financial support, adjusted by a small collection charge, while formally ending the old revenue assignment system.
