Religious and moral instructions

Religious and moral instructions shall be provided to prisoners through reliable and reputed personalities from all religions for providing religious and moral inputs to the inmates. The institutions and personalities approved in this behalf by the Director General shall be permitted to render religious and moral instructions to prisoners. The services of reliable voluntary agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations may be availed for organizing religious, spiritual, cultural and recreational programmes in prisons. The organization of such welfare programmes shall be the responsibility of the Welfare Officer.
