Power of the Government to appoint Director General, Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General and other correctional officers

(1) The Government shall, appoint a Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services for the administration, management and correctional services of all the prisons in the State of Kerala. (2) The Government may also appoint, as many Inspectors General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Deputy Inspectors General of Prisons and Correctional Services and such other officers and staffs, as it may deem fit, to assist the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services in exercising powers and functions conferred upon him under this Act or rules made thereunder. (3) The officers and staff appointed under sub-section (1) shall exercise such powers and discharge such duties, as may be, prescribed.
