The Syndicate

The Syndicate shall consist of the following members, namely:-

1. (i) The Vice-Chancellor; 1[(i-a) The Secretary to Government, in charge of Health and Family Welfare or his nominee not below the rank of Deputy Secretary to Government. (i-b) The Secretary to Government in charge of Medical Education, or his nominee not below the rank of Deputy Secretary to Government]
2. (ii) The Director of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka;
3. (iii) The Director of Medical Education, Karnataka;
4. (iv) The Director of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Karnataka;
5. (v) The President, Karnataka Chapter of the Indian Medical Association;
6. (vi) The President, Karnataka Medical Council;
7. (vii) Three persons elected by the Senate amongst themselves;
8. (viii) One Professor nominated by the Vice-Chancellor by rotation, every two years;
9. (ix) Two Heads of University or affiliated colleges by yearly rotation, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; 2[(x) One nominee from an autonomous Government Medical institute nominated by the Government by yearly rotation]
10. (xi) Three experts in the field of health sciences nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor; 1[(xii) Six persons nominated by the State Government from amongst eminent personalities in the field of Health Sciences of whom,-
11. (i) one shall be a person belonging to the Scheduled

castes or the Scheduled Tribes;

1. (ii) one person belonging to the Other Backward Classes;
2. (iii) one Woman;
3. (iv) one person belonging to Linguistic Minorities; and
4. (v) two others. Provided that no person who is in the employment of an affiliated college or in the University in whatever capacity shall be eligible for nomination]

1. (2) Seven members of the Syndicate shall form a quorum for a meeting of the Syndicate.
