The Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Kshetra Development Authority Act, 2016
This Act establishes the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Kshetra Development Authority to transform historical and heritage sites associated with freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna into an international cultural and tourist hub. It applies to designated areas surrounding Sangolli and Nandagad villages in Karnataka, as well as local authorities, property owners, developers, and visitors within these limits. The statute empowers the authority to acquire land, regulate local construction, construct public amenities, preserve monuments, and promote cultural tourism. This legislation matters because it safeguards regional historical heritage, prevents unauthorized local development, drives economic growth through tourism, and honors a prominent freedom fighter.
