The Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2011
Education201177 sections
This Act establishes a university dedicated to higher education and research in Karnataka's folklore, including literature, art, handicrafts, and indigenous traditional knowledge. It applies to the governing body, teachers, students, and hostel residents of this new institution, establishing rules for their roles. The university aims to preserve oral culture, document heritage, and promote rural development while serving as a global model for folklore preservation. It matters because it prioritizes safeguarding Karnataka's unique tribal and folk cultures and history from disappearing in the face of modernization and globalization.
