Removal of lunatics and criminal lunatics.—(1) Any lunatic may be removed from any asylum established by Government, to any other asylum within the State in accordance with any general or special order of 1 [the Government] : Provided that no lunatic admitted into asylum on a reception order made on petition shall be removed in accordance with the provisions of this sub-section until notice of such intended removal has been given to the petitioner.
- (2) 1 [The Government] may make such general or special order as it thinks fit directing the removal of any person for whose 2[detention] an order has been made under section 466 or section 471 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1989, from the place where he is for the time being 2[detained] to any asylum, jail or other place of safe custody in the State.
