Definitions

Definitions.-In this Act unless there is anything repugnant

in the subject or context,- ...... ...... ......

1. (1) "asylum" means as asylum for lunatics established or licensed by Government ;
2. (2) "cost of maintenance" in an asylum includes the cost of

an asylum ;

1. (3) "District Court" means the principal Civil Court of original jurisdiction in any area;
2. (4) "criminal lunatic" means any person for whose I [detention] in, or removal to

pf the Prisoners Act;

1. (5) "lunatic" means an idiot or person of unsound mind ;
2. (6) "Magistrate" means a District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional

under this Act ;

1. (7) "medical officer" means a gazetted medical officer of Gov-

1. (8) "medical practitioner" means a holder of a qualification to
