Preliminary

Short title, extent and commencement.--(1) This Act may be called the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils Act, 1995.

1. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may by notification in the Government Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
2. (3) It shall extend to the whole of the districts of Leh and Kargil in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Amendment of section 10, Act XXXII of 1997.--In section 10 of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act, 1997 (hereinafter referred to as 'the principal Act'), for the words, brackets and figures "the names of the members elected for those constituencies or those nominated under subsection

1. (2) of section 4, and upon the issue of such notification", the words "upon issue of notification of election results" shall be substituted.
