Definitions

Definitions.—In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,—

1. (a) "animal" means any domesticated animal or bird, or any animal or bird kept in confinement ;
2. (b) "infective animal" means an animal which is affected with a scheduled disease or has recently been in contact with or in close proximity to an animal so affected ;
3. (c) "Inspector" means an Inspector appointed under section 4 ;
4. (d) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under section 36 ;
5. (e) "rules" means rules made under section 36 ;
6. (f) "scheduled disease" means any disease specified in the Schedule to this Act ;
7. (g) "Veterinary Surgeon" means a Veterinary Surgeon appointed under section 4 ;
8. (h) "cattle" includes bull, bullock, buffalo, cow or young ones of each of them of both sexes ;
   • (i) "bird" includes fowls, geese, chicks and the like and the eggs thereof.
