Health200639 sections2 chapters

The Jammu and Kashmir Animal Diseases (Control) Act, 2006, establishes a legal framework to prevent and control the spread of contagious diseases among animals. It empowers government-appointed Veterinary Surgeons and Inspectors to manage outbreaks by establishing quarantine stations, isolating infected animals, and regulating the movement of livestock and animal products. The Act mandates that owners report suspected infections and follow strict disinfection protocols. For the ordinary citizen, particularly farmers and livestock owners, this legislation ensures public health and economic stability by curbing the spread of dangerous diseases, while setting clear rules for the humane and sanitary management of animal health.
