This Act provides for the better management of Sikh gurdwaras and their property. Gurdwaras can be declared Sikh Gurdwaras through a process of lists and petitions, with claims to property and compensation for hereditary office-holders decided by a tribunal. Management of these gurdwaras is placed with elected Sikh bodies, headed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
