Statutes

31. Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely:--

1. (a) the constitution, powers and duties of the authorities of the University and the declaration of other bodies to be such authorities;
2. (b) the powers, functions, duties, manner of appointment and conditions of service of the officers of the University other than the Chancellor;
3. (c) the designations, qualifications, method of recruitment, pay, allowances, and other conditions of service of various categories of employees of the University and their powers and duties;
4. (d) the classification and manner of appointment of teachers and other non-teaching staff;
5. (e) the conferment and withdrawal of honorary degrees and academic distinctions;
6. (f) the establishment, amalgamation, sub-division and abolition of faculties;
7. (g) the establishment of departments of teaching in the faculties;
8. (h) the registrations of graduates and maintenance of a register of registered graduates;
   • (i) the procedure of meeting of the Board of Management and the conduct of its business;
9. (j) the manner in which and the conditions subject to which pension, provident and insurance funds for the benefit of officers, teachers and other employees of the University shall be constituted and the rules, terms and conditions of such funds;
10. (k) any matter which is to be or may be prescribed by Statutes under this Act.
