The Goa, Daman and Diu Preservation of Trees Act, 1984
The Goa, Daman and Diu Preservation of Trees Act, 1984
The Goa, Daman and Diu Preservation of Trees Act of 1984 regulates the cutting, management, and replanting of trees in the territory. It applies to all local landowners, occupants, government departments, and private business entities. Under this law, no person can cut, uproot, or remove trees without official government permission, and those who get approval must plant new trees to replace what they harvested. The act also requires owners to plant trees in their barren areas. This law matters because it prevents deforestation, protects the region's delicate biodiversity, and ensures sustainable ecological practices for future public benefit and environmental wellbeing.
