Definitions

Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

1. (a) “Administrative Department” means the Secretariat Department concerned with the subject matter of the contract;
2. (b) “Engineering Departments” means the Departments of Water Resources, Roads and Buildings, Panchayat Raj, Public Health and Municipal Engineering and such other Departments as the Government may notify from time to time;
3. (c) “Government” means the State Government of Andhra Pradesh;
4. (d) “Nominated Works” means any works contract or service contract of the value specified by the Government from time to time, which is entrusted to a contractor without following the tender process;
5. (e) “Notification” means a notification published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette and the word ‘notified’ shall be construed accordingly;
6. (f) “Prescribed” means prescribed by rules made by the Government under this Act;
7. (g) “Women” means a woman or group of women or a company or a firm or a society or a proprietary concern owned/constituted by women.
