Bare Act
The Uttarakhand Contingency Fund Act, 2001
This Act establishes a Contingency Fund for the state of Uttarakhand to handle unexpected expenses that arise before the state legislature can approve them. The Governor manages this fund, which is initially filled with five hundred crores of rupees taken from the state's main treasury. It allows the government to pay for urgent needs immediately without waiting for formal budget approval, ensuring that essential services continue even during unforeseen situations. Once the legislature later authorizes the spending, the money is officially recorded as part of the fund. The law also replaces an older ordinance from 2000 and gives the state government the power to create rules for managing this financial reserve.
