Statutory text
Every Atiyat Court shall, when holding an enquiry under this Act, have the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (5 of 1908), in respect of the following matters, namely:— (a) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath; (b) compelling the production of documents and other material objects; (c) issuing commissions for examination of witnesses; (d) such other matters as may be prescribed; and every enquiry or investigation by an Atiyat Court shall be deemed to be a judicial proceedings within the meaning of sections 193 and 228 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (45 of 1860).
