A statute or an amendment to, or repeal of, a statute, passed by the Syndicate shall have no validity until it has been assented to by the Chancellor.

Ordinances 35. Subject to the provisions of this Act, and the statutes, the ordinances may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely :-

1. (i) the admission of students to the University and its approved or affiliated colleges and the levy of fees in University colleges and laboratories;
2. (ii) the courses of study leading to all degrees, titles, diplomas and other academic distinctions of the University;
3. (iii) the conditions of residence of students of the University and the levy of fees for residence in hostels maintained by the University;
4. (iv) the conditions of recognition of hostels not maintained by the University;
5. (v) the conditions under which the students shall be admitted to the courses of study leading to degrees, titles, diplomas and other academic distinctions of the University;
6. (vi) the conduct of examinations of the University and the conditions on which students shall be admitted to such examinations;
7. (vii) the manner in which exemption relating to the admission of students to examinations may be given;
8. (viii) the conditions and mode of appointment and duties of examining bodies and examiners;
9. (ix) the maintenance of discipline among the students of the University;
10. (x) the fees to be charged for courses of study, research, experiment and practical training and for admissions to the examinations for degrees, titles, diplomas and other academic distinctions of the University;
11. (xi) the conditions subject to which persons who may hereafter be permanently employed may be recognised as qualified to give instruction in affiliated and approved colleges and hostels; and
12. (xii) any other matter which by this Act or the statutes is required to be or may be prescribed by the ordinances.
