This Act governs the police force of the city of Madras (Chennai). It vests the administration of the city police in the Commissioner of Police, who has certain magistrate's powers, and provides for Deputy and Assistant Commissioners. It covers the constitution of the force, rules for its governance, and discipline of its members. It also gives the police powers to keep order in the city.
