1. Short title and commencement

- (1) This Act may be called the Indian Tolls (Tamil Nadu Amendment) Act, 1942.
- (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 19th day of April 1938.
2. Amendment of section 2, Central Act VIII of 1851

Sub-section
- (5) of section 2 of the Indian Tolls Act, 1851 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall be lettered as clause
- (a) of that sub-section and to the sub-section so lettered, the following clause shall be added, namely :--
- (b) The [State] Government may farm out the collection of the tolls levied under sub-section
- (1) and in such a case the farmer and his agents and servants shall be deemed to be persons appointed to collect tolls under this Act.
3. Amendment of section 3, Central Act VIII of 1851
Statutory text
In section 3 of the said Act, for the words " officers appointed to collect the same ", the words " officers and persons appointed to collect the same " shall be substituted.
4. Amendment of section 9, Central Act VIII of 1851
Statutory text
In section 9 of the said Act, after the words " method of collection of the tolls ", the words " including the terms and conditions of the farming out thereof " shall be inserted.
