This Act established Anna University, Tiruchirappalli as an affiliating technical university for engineering colleges in its region. Colleges affiliated to it cannot be affiliated to any other university. The Act sets out its powers and objects, admission, visitation, and its officers, including the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and Controller of Examinations.
