Power to acquire land under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.
The Sikkim Urban and Regional Planning and Development Act, 1998(1) Any land required, reserved or designated in a perspective plan, a development plan, or an annual plan, or a development scheme shall be deemed to be land needed for a public purpose within the meaning of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (Central Act 1 of 1894) and may be acquired by the Government on request by the Authority. (2) Where any land has been acquired by the Government under sub-section (1), it may after it has taken possession of the land, transfer the land to the Authority for the purpose for which the land has been acquired on payment by the Authority of the compensation awarded under the Act and of the charges incurred by the Government in connection with the acquisition.
