Bare Act
The Rajasthan Ropeway - Act 1996
The Rajasthan Ropeways Act, 1996 regulates the licensing, construction, maintenance, safety, and operation of public and private ropeways across the state of Rajasthan. It applies to public authorities, private developers, operators, designated inspectors, and passengers who use aerial cable transport. The law empowers government authorities to issue licenses, conduct compulsory safety inspections, resolve land access or obstruction disputes, and oversee fare structures. By establishing strict safety protocols, mandatory accident reporting, and structural standards, the Act protects passengers and landowners while encouraging organized transit infrastructure development for tourism, industry, and public travel throughout the state.
