Punishment for obstructing legal process.

Any person who- (a) knows or has reasonable cause to believe that any other person is guilty of an offence under this Act, gives that other person any assistance with intent thereby to prevent, hinder or otherwise interfere with his arrest, trial or punishment for the said offence, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years and shall also be liable to fine which may extend to one lakh rupees; (b) threatens a witness with any injury to his person or property or to the person or property of any one in whom that person is interested, with intent to cause harm to that person, or to compel that person to refrain or withdraw from being a witness in any investigation, trial under this Act shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years and shall also be liable to fine which may extend to one lakh rupees.
