The Northern India Canal and Drainage (Punjab Amd.) Act, 1981

This Act may be called the Northern India Canal and Drainage (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1981.

In the Northern India Canal and Drainage Act, 1873, in its application to the State of Punjab (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in section 4, for the words “the officers by whom”, the words “the officers of the State Government or of the Punjab State Tubewell Corporation Limited by whom” shall be substituted.

Anything done or any action taken or purporting to have been done or taken by any officer of the Punjab State Tubewell Corporation Limited acting or purporting to act as Canal Officer under the provisions of the principal Act or the rules made thereunder shall be deemed to be valid and effective as if the aforesaid officer had at all material times been duly authorised to exercise such powers and to perform such functions and accordingly no such thing or action shall be called into question in any court of law merely on the ground that any such thing or action was done or taken by that officer without any authority.
