The Northern India Canal and Drainage (Punjab Amd.) Act, 1981

This Act amends the canal and drainage law as applied to the State of Punjab by expanding who can exercise the legal powers of a canal officer. It allows officers of the Punjab State Tubewell Corporation Limited, alongside state government officials, to carry out regulatory functions and manage canal and drainage systems. Additionally, the law retrospectively validates all past actions and decisions taken by officers of the tubewell corporation acting as canal officers. This ensures that past administrative actions regarding water management cannot be challenged in court simply due to a prior lack of formal authorization, protecting public water management operations.
