The Punjab Laws (Extension No.3) Act, 1957
1. 1. (1) This Act may be called thc Punjab Laws (Extension NO. 3 ) Act, 1957. (2) I1 shall come into force at once.

4. 4. (1) ' A I ~ the enactments, as amended from time to time
which, imnlediatcl y before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in rhc State or Punjab and reIates to marters with respect to which the Srate Legislature has power lo make law Tor a stale. and all rules. regulations, notifications, orders and by-laws made, and all direc~ions or instructions issued, thereunder, which are in force immediately before the commencement of this Act in the said tettirories; are hereby extended lo, and shall be in force in, the transferred teni tories.
(2) Thc amendments specified in Schedule I shalI be made in the aforesaid enactments.
5. 5. In rhe enaclments, or rules, regulations, noti fications, ordcrs and C'onsrruction of by-laws made, and directions
(1)'to alaw which is not in force in the ~a'isferrcd territories shall jn relatioh to such terrirories, be construed as a reference to the corresponding law, if any, in force in such territories ; and
(2) LO the State of Punjab, by whatcver form of words, shall be co~~strued as i nc!uding a rcfcrence to the transferred territories.
6. 6. If i rnmediately berore the commencement of this Act, there is in Repeals and force in the transferred territories
Provided that such repeal shall not aifect-
(a) the previous operation of any law so repcaled or anyrhing duly done or surfered thcrcunder : or
( b ) any light, privilege, obligation or liability acquired or incurred undcrL ;in y law so repealed ; or
(c) any penal~y, forfeirure or purlishmcnt itlc~~rred in respect of any nlfencc comrnirted against any law so rspeiiled ; or
(d) any investigation, lcgat proceeding or rcmcdy in respect of any such right, privilcge, obligation, Ijabjliry, penalty, forfeiture or punishmen1 as aforesaid ;
and any such investigation, legal proceeding or remedy may be instituted, continued or enforced, and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed, as if this Act had not been passe? :
Provided further h a t anything done or any action taken under any law so repeaIed shall be deemed to have been donc or takcn uirlcr thc corresponding provision of the enactment e-xtendcd by section 4 to the transferred tcrritorjes, and shall continue to be in force accordingly, unless and unril superseded by anything done bi Ahy action taken u d e r the enactments so cxrended.

If any difficulty arises in giving effect in the transferred territories to the provisions of any enactment specified in Schedule I or Schedule II, the State Government may, by order notified in the Official Gazette, make such provisions or give such directions as appear to it to be necessary or expedient for the removal of the difficulty.
