Bare Act

The Punjab Laws (Application) Act, 1957

General19576 sections

This Act ensures that laws previously applicable to the state of Punjab remain in force after the State Reorganisation Act created a new Punjab State in 1956. It specifically extends the application of various Punjab State laws—including those governing salaries and allowances of legislative members, Assembly and council provisions, and ministerial allowances—to the new State. The Act also facilitates necessary amendments to these existing laws and includes a provision allowing the State Government to remove difficulties that arise in their implementation. This legislation provides legal continuity and clarity for government institutions and dignitaries operating under previous Punjab State laws in the newly formed State.
