Power of Government regarding general election

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act or the rules made thereunder, the Government may by notification direct that, by such date as may be specified, a general election of Chairman and members of Executive Committees of all Sabhas, and co-option of members, shall be held in the Union Territory of Chandigarh; and different dates may be appointed for different areas or for different Sabhas or groups thereof.
