Establishment and Constitution of Gram Sabha
The Punjab Gram Panchayat Act, 1952(1) Government may, by notification, establish a Gram Sabha by name in every Sabha area. (2) Every Gram Sabha shall, by the name Notified under sub-section (1), be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal, and, subject to any restriction by or under this Act or any other law, shall have power to acquire, hold, administer and transfer property, movable or immovable, and to enter into contracts, and shall by the said name sue or be sued and do all such things as are necessary for which it is constituted. (3) Every person who, for the time being, is entered as a voter on the electoral roll of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the Haryana Legislative Assembly, the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and the Parliamentary constituency of the Union Territory of Chandigarh for the time being in force, and pertaining to the Sabha area, as the case may be, shall be a member of the Sabha of that Sabha area.
