m THE MEBGED TERRITORIES FOR A LIMITED PERIOD
lhtHERI' AS it is expedient to provide for the
continuance, during a limited period, of licences
of the petition writers in the mergedterritories ; It is hereby enacted by the Logislature of the
State of Orissa in the Seventh Year of Republic
of Inwa as follows :—
Shon title, 1. (l) This Act moy be called the Orissa Merged andTerritories' Petition Writers' Continuance of Licences
meat. Act, 1956.*
- (2) It extends to the whole of the merged territories of the State of Orissa.
- (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st July 1956. DoanitjonB 2. In this Act unlessthere is anything repugnant in the subject or context—
- (i) " petition writer " meansa person carryin g on his profession as such under the terms andconditions of a valid licenee in any of the merged territoriæ of the State of Orissa during the period from the 1st January 1948 to the 30th June 1951.
- (ii) "prescribed" mems prescribed by rules made by the High Court under this Act.
3. Right to continue profession.
A petition writer shall, subject to the prescribed rules be entitled to continue his profession as such for a period of five years from the commencement of this Act.
4. Power of High Court to make rules.
The petition writers shall be governed by such rules as the High Court may from time to time make as regards control, discipline and conditions of their licences.
