Bare Act
The Nagaland Police Enhancement Disciplinary Powers Act, 1965
The Nagaland Police Enhanced Disciplinary Powers Act, 1963 empowers police supervisory authorities in Nagaland to swiftly discipline subordinate police personnel for negligence or misconduct. It applies to all members of the Nagaland District Police Force and the Nagaland Armed Police Battalion, regardless of where they are deployed. The law allows officers such as Superintendents of Police, Commandants, Deputy Superintendents, and Station In-charges to impose summary disciplinary punishments—including quarter-guard confinement, extra guard duties, and punishment drills—on officers below the rank of Sub-Inspector. By maintaining strict internal discipline, the law ensures that public law enforcement remains accountable, efficient, and responsive to public safety needs.
