Bare Act
The Salaries and Allowances of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (Manipur) Act, 1972
This law governs the financial compensation, official benefits, and legal conditions of service for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. It entitles these key legislative leaders to specific salaries, allowances, housing, medical care, and vehicle advances comparable to state cabinet ministers. To prevent conflicts of interest and ensure dedicated public service, the law strictly prohibits the Speaker and Deputy Speaker from practicing any private profession, engaging in trade, or receiving additional salaries as ordinary assembly members. By standardizing these compensation packages and official rules, the law ensures transparency, financial security, and independence for Manipur's top parliamentary officials.
