Terms of office and condition of service of Chairperson and Members
The Manipur State Commission for Women Act, 2006(1) The Chairperson and every Member shall hold office for such period, not exceeding three years as may be specified by the State Government in this behalf. (2) The Chairperson or a Member (other than the Member-Secretary) may, in writing and addressed to the State Government, resign from the office of the Chairperson or of the Member, as the case may be, at any time. (3) The State Government shall remove a person from the office of Chairperson or a Member referred to in sub-section (2) if that person:- (a) becomes an undischarged insolvent, or (b) gets convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for an offence involving moral turpitude, or (c) becomes of unsound mind and stands so declared by a competent court, or (d) refuses to act or become incapable of acting or (e) is, without obtaining leave of absence from the Commission, absent from three consecutive meetings of the Commission, or (f) if, in the opinion of the State Government, has abused the position of Chairperson or Member, as the case may be, so as to render that person's continuing in office detrimental to the public interest: Provided that no person shall be removed under this sub-section until that person has been given a reasonable opportunity of being heard in the matter. (4) A vacancy caused under sub-section (2) and (3) or otherwise shall be filled by fresh nomination by the State Government. (5) The salaries and allowances payable to and other terms and conditions of service of Chairpersons and Members shall be as may be prescribed.
