Provident Fund
The Manipur Shops and Establishments Act, 1972The employer shall, in accordance with rules made by the State Government, provide a provident fund for the benefit of every employee in his shop or establishment and shall contribute to this fund an amount of 6 1/4 percent of the total wages of every such employee : Provided that this section shall apply only to such places or such classes of shops or establishment as may by notification in the Official Gazette, be specified in that behalf by the State Government; and Provided further that such employers as fail to provide provident fund in spite of such a notification shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to six months or with a fine not exceeding five hundred rupees, or with both.
