The Commercial Documents Evidence (Maharashtra Extension) Act, 1960

General19602 sections

This law extends the Commercial Documents Evidence Act of 1939 to the entire state of Maharashtra, ensuring that the rules for proving the validity of commercial documents apply uniformly across the state. Previously, the law was only in force in specific areas like Bombay and Vidarbha, but this extension brings the rest of the state under its jurisdiction. It also makes a small technical change to the definition of "States" to exclude the Hyderabad area. By doing this, the Act provides a consistent legal framework for businesses and individuals dealing with commercial papers throughout Maharashtra.
