Chapter I PRELIMINARY
1. Short title, extent and commencement

- (1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks Act, 2017.
- (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra.
- (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

2. Substitution of the words “Electrical Inspector” and “Assistant Electrical Inspector” for the words “Electrical Inspector (Lifts)” and “Assistant Electrical Inspector (Lifts)” in Mah. XV of

Throughout the Maharashtra Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks Act, 2017 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Act”) except as otherwise expressly amended by this Act,—
- (1) for the words and brackets “Electrical Inspector (Lifts)”, wherever they occur, the words “Electrical Inspector” shall be substituted;
- (2) for the words and brackets “Assistant Electrical Inspector (Lifts)”, wherever they occur, the words “Assistant Electrical Inspector” shall be substituted.
