Sections 5, 7 and 9 shall come into force on the 18th September 1981 i.e. the date of publication of this Act in the Official Gazette. 2 Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 were deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April 1981 and sections 3 and 9 of this Act have come into force on the 29th day of December 1981. 3 Mah. 2 of 1986, except sections 1, 2 and 5, came into force on the 1st day of August 1985. ACT No. XLVII OF 19561 [THE MAHARASHTRA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (CHAIRMAN AND DEPUTY CHAIRMAN) AND MAHARASHTRA LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY (SPEAKER AND DEPUTY SPEAKER) SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES ACT.] [This Act received the assent of the Governor on the 30th November 1956, assent was first published in the Bombay Government Gazette, Extraordinary No. 53, Part IV, on the 30th November 1956.] An Act to provide for the salaries and allowances of the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of 2[the Maharashtra Legislative Council] and the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of 3[the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly] and certain other matters.

WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the determination of the salaries and allowances of the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of 4[the Maharashtra Legislative Council] and the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of 5[the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly] and certain other matters as hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :—

1. Short title and commencement.— 6[(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Legislative

Council (Chairman and Deputy Chairman) and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Speaker and Deputy Speaker) Salaries and Allowances Act.]

1. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st November 1956.
