This Act deals with gunthewari developments in Maharashtra, meaning unauthorised plots and buildings built on small pieces of land divided without approval. It lets planning authorities regularise such developments on payment of charges, upgrade them with basic amenities, and control any new gunthewari development. It also provides for powers of entry, notices, offences and compounding.
