Bare Act
The Maharashtra Employees of Private Schools (Condition of Service) Regulation Act, 1977
This Act regulates the service conditions of employees working in private schools across Maharashtra. It establishes a standardized framework for recruitment, probation, conduct, and termination, ensuring that school managements cannot arbitrarily dismiss staff. The law mandates the creation of School Tribunals, which serve as specialized judicial bodies to hear appeals from employees regarding dismissal, removal, or reduction in rank. By providing a clear legal mechanism for dispute resolution and setting minimum employment standards, the Act protects the rights of teachers and staff, ensuring stability and fairness in the private education sector while holding school managements accountable for their administrative decisions.
