Definitions

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University; (b) "Act" means the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1998; (c) "affiliated college" means a college which is for the time being affiliated to the University; (d) "Authority" means any of the authorities of the University specified in Act; (e) "Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies of the University; (f) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the University; (g) "College" means an institution maintained or admitted to the privileges of the University by or under the provisions of this Act; (h) "Department" means a department of studies of the University; (i) "Employee" means any person appointed by the University and includes teachers and other staff of the University; (j) "Faculty" means a Faculty of the University; (k) "Hall" means a unit of residence or of corporate life for the students of the University, college or institution maintained or admitted to the privileges of the University; (l) "Hostel" means a unit of residence for the students of the University or of an affiliated college; (m) "Institution" means an academic institution, not being a college, maintained or admitted to the privileges of the University; (n) "Principal" means the head of a college or institution; (o) "Statutes", "Ordinances" and "Regulations" mean respectively the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University made under this Act; (p) "Student" means a person enrolled in the University for undergoing a course of study; (q) "Teacher" means a Professor, Reader, Lecturer or any other person imparting instruction in the University; (r) "University" means the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya.
