Bare Act
The Prisoners (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Act, 2012
Criminal20123 sections
This law modifies the rules for managing prisoners inside Madhya Pradesh by changing four specific numbers in an old Central law (Section 31-A). It extends a time limit for calculating sentences from 21 days to 42 days, and lengthens two other related periods from 2 and 10 days to 3 and 14 days. The Act matters because it helps ensure that inmates can have their sentences from other states officially recognized or extended correctly even if they are currently imprisoned in MP, without being rushed by strict deadlines (Section 3).
