Bare Act
The Madhya Pradesh Local Authorities Census Expenses Contribution Act, 1949
This Act establishes a legal framework requiring local authorities in Madhya Pradesh to provide financial contributions toward census expenses when mandated by the State Government. It defines key terms to ensure clarity on the scope of local bodies, which include municipalities and district councils. The Central Government's expenses during the census are reimbursed by these local entities based on assessments determined by the State. To ensure compliance, if local authorities fail to pay on time, the State Government can order the custodian of their funds to release the required amount. Any disputes regarding the contribution amount are subject to the final decision of the State Government. The legislation repeals an earlier act from 1930 to consolidate these regulations.
