The Madhya Pradesh Kolahal Niyantran Adhiniyam, 1985 is a state legislation enacted to control noise pollution caused by sound-amplifying equipment across Madhya Pradesh. The Act prohibits any person from operating loudspeakers, amplifiers, or sound-producing instruments in public places or private spaces where sound reaches the general public, unless they obtain a prior licence from the District Magistrate or an authorized officer. By granting authorities the power to issue, refuse, suspend, or cancel sound licences and prescribing penalties of imprisonment up to six months or fines up to two thousand rupees, the law protects citizens from public disturbance and excessive noise.
