The Banavasi Development Authority Act, 2018
This Act provides for the establishment and operation of the Banavasi Development Authority to transform the historic area of Banavasi into an international cultural, pilgrimage, and tourist destination. It applies geographically to the Banavasi Gram Panchayat and surrounding areas within twenty kilometers in Karnataka, affecting local residents, landowners, tourists, and government officials operating in the region. The legislation empowers the authority to acquire land, conserve historic sites, build public infrastructure, and host cultural events celebrating ancient heritage. This Act is important because it safeguards historical monuments, boosts regional tourism, and preserves the legacy of the ancient poet Pampa and Kadamba history.
