Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) (Special Provisions) Act
The Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) (Special Provisions) Act, 2011
This law regulates how private professional colleges in Karnataka handle admissions and fees. It specifically targets unaided private institutions for the academic years 2008 through 2012. The government appoints a single regulatory committee to oversee these institutions and enforce agreements that fix tuition rates. The act also mandates specific seat quotas for different categories of students, ensuring a balance between minority and non-minority institutions. This measure was introduced to control rising costs and ensure fair access to professional education by standardizing financial and entry rules during a specific period.
