Repeal.- On the date on which this Act comes into force the Bombay Lifts Act,

1939 (Bombay Act 10 of 1939) as in force in the Belgaum Area shall stand repealed:

Provided that sections 8 and 24 of the 1[Karnataka]1 General Clauses Act, 1899 shall be applicable as if the said enactment had been repealed and re-enacted by this Act.

S.O. 1843.- In excise of the powers conferred by Sub-Section (3) of Section 1 of the Karnataka Lifts Act, 1974 (Karnataka Act No. 24 of 1974) the Government of Karnataka hereby appoints the 1st August 1976 as the date on which the said Act shall come into force.
