Definitions

Definitions.--Unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,--

1. (i) "venereal disease" includes syphilis, gonorrhoea, chandroid, granuloma venereum;
2. (ii) "Government dispensary" includes a Government hospital or a centre opened by the Government for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of persons suffering from venereal diseases;
3. (iii) "medical officer" means the medical officer-in-charge of a Government dispensary [and includes an officer-in-charge of the Anti-venereal Unit];
4. (iv) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
